Penn Township Ambulance
Penn Township Ambulance Rescue 6 has provided Emergency Medical Services to the township’s residents and visitors since 1972. Penn Township Ambulance has evolved into a professional multi hazard public safety agency. Under the direction of Edgar C. Grant, Director of Operations, a staff of 10 Full-Time and 10 Part-Time Medical-Rescue Technicians deliver 24 hours 7 seven days a week Advanced Life Support services. Utilizing a fleet of three Ambulances, a Special Service Unit and a Command/Support Unit, we provide a dedicated and effective Emergency Medical Services along with Technical Rescue Services. Our agency has achieved the American Heart Association Mission Lifeline Gold Plus Provider, Master Level Pediatric Provider and participates in the Pennsylvania Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival program. Our Technical Rescue services include High Angle /Low Angle Rope Rescue, Swift Water/ Ice Rescue and Confined Space Rescue. We also deploy a Tactical Paramedic Team, Bicycle EMS Team and Incident Rehabilitation and Environment Shelter Team.
We provide many community programs. These program help to prevent injury or illness and bring awareness to the vital role that we serve in our communities;
Andy The Ambulance – Every year we visit each Second Grade class in the Penn Trafford School District
Child Seat Inspections – As a recognized Child Seat Fitting Station, we identify child seats that have been installed incorrectly and fit the child correctly to the seat or restraint system.
Operation Lifesaver – Presentation for children on the dangers of Railroad Tracks and Railroad Equipment
CPR/AED and First Aid – Monthly public training sessions to teach American Heart Association and National Standards of Hands only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Stop The Bleed Campaign – Public education to teach how to control severe bleeding.
Flu Vaccination Clinics – Every autumn, partnering with AHN and UPMC health systems, we provide adult flu vaccinations.
Kdis Can Push Fast and Hard Event – We introduce children to hands only CPR each summer. Community businesses have pledged annual support to this program
Safesitter – Once a quarter we teach this program to preteens to care for infants and toddlers. This is a cooperative program with the Penn Township Area Recreation Commission
Our staff and emergency vehicles can be seen frequently in the community responding or posted to details all throughout the year. Each year we ask the residents and commercial entities within our primary service area to contribute to our State Of Readiness Campaign.
